Ellen Noneman Obituary

Ellen Noneman

Ellen Marie Noneman (Morrissey) of Toledo, Ohio, passed away at the age of 66, on December 17, 2024. Born on February 23, 1958, in Toledo, to James and Margaret Morrissey (Cameron), she was one of nine children. Ellen attended elementary school at Rosary Cathedral and high school at St. Ursula Academy. She went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree and a Master's in School Psychology from the University of Toledo. Throughout her career, Ellen worked as a school psychologist in Toledo Public Schools, including Birmingham Elementary, East Toledo Junior High, and Waite High School. In addition to her professional work, Ellen was deeply involved in Community Theater, with a lifelong passion for performance that had a lasting impact on both her personal and professional life.

Ellen participated in the Miss Ohio pageants, earning titles such as Miss Sandusky Valley, Miss Northwest Ohio, Miss Toledo, and first runner-up in Miss Ohio. A vivacious singer, her life and home were always filled with music. She participated in many community theater productions, including shows at the Toledo Repertoire Theatre and Westgate Dinner Theater. Known for her beautiful voice and vibrant personality, Ellen made lasting friendships through theater. Some of her favorite roles included Evita in Evita, Marian in The Music Man, Guinevere in Camelot, and various roles in A Christmas Carol, as well many other leading roles. Above all, her most cherished roles were mom to Kylee and "nana" to her beloved grandson, Teddy.

Ellen fiercely advocated for women's rights and the LGBTQ community, always standing up for equality and inclusion. An avid entertainer, she was known for her welcoming nature and often hosted gatherings where she could be found singing next to the piano. Her "come as you are" spirit ensured that everyone felt included, and she frequently opened her home to others, especially during the holidays, creating a space where all were embraced. Her warmth, generosity, and wit left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know her.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret Morrissey; her brother, Michael; sister, Marilyn; and her best friend, David Chavalia. She is survived by her daughter, Kylee Gregory (Noneman); and the light of her life, her grandson, Teddy "Tedders" Gregory. Ellen is also survived by her twin sister, Theresa Morrissey; and siblings, Maureen Spain, Jimmy Morrissey (Martha), Cathy Czech (Tom), Marty Morrissey, and Carrie Hrezik (Paul); lifelong friend, Tim McHenry; former husband, Denny Noneman; and ten nieces and nephews. Ellen will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.

Ellen will be honored at a Celebration of Life at the Valentine Theatre on Friday, January 10th, 2024. Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 12:00 p.m.
