Ellen Jane Pack

1943 - 2026

Ellen Jane (Allen) Pack, age 83, of Greenfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. She was born in Galveston, Texas on January 12, 1943, to Capt. William C., Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth (Stinson) Allen. She graduated from Ball High School in Galveston, TX in 1961 and earned her certification from USA Vocational in 1962. She served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1962. Ellen married Delmar Landon Pack on February 9, 1962, in Ft. McNair Chapel, Washington, D.C.

She began her career serving proudly in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. After her military service, she worked as a computer programmer for Amax Coal before spending several years as Director of Circulation at the Noblesville Daily Ledger, where she later retired. She found her greatest joy in watching her children and grandchildren grow, always cherishing the moments spent with family. She loved music, card games, clever wit, and traveling with friends. Her love of history and family found expression in her work as an accomplished genealogist. Ellen was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the Red Hat Dollies in Greenfield, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Ellen is survived by her husband, Delmar "Del" Landon Pack of Greenfield; sons, Terry Dwayne (Jennifer) Pack of New Palestine and Kenneth Dean (Beth) Pack of Carmel; eight grandchildren, Fran, Daphne, David, Madeleine, John Paul, Leo, Sarah, and Tessa; great-granddaughter, Elaina; niece, Kimberly (Allen); great nephew, Tanner; cousins, Sam, Walter, Judith, and Peggy. She was preceded in death by her, parents; and brother, William Charles "Skipper" Allen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd, Greenfield, IN 46140 with a visitation prior to the mass from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A rosary service will take place prior to the visitation at 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. In the Spring, military rites will be presented at her gravesite.
