Ellen Propp, 85, of Zanesville, died at 2:50 P.M. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Clay Gardens Place Assisted Living, Zanesville. She was born on August 20, 1939, in Malta, Ohio, a daughter of the late Earl Hobson and Bessie Mae (Walker) McElfresh. Ellen retired from Sunny View Nursing home where she worked for ten years as a nurse’s aide and she adored her cat Sadie Mae, who “ruled the roost” and was her pride and joy.

She is survived by a daughter, Rita Jane Brunsell; sister Esther (John) Lawrence; niece, Debbie (Guy) Patete; nephew, Mark (Joanna) Lawrence; great nieces and nephews, Michael, Josh, Johnathan and Alex Lawrence; and many cousins.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Propp; a son, Brent Lee Pennell; and sister, Eleanor Jean Kuntz.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with Pastor Geoff Geyer officiating. Ellen will be laid to rest at a later date next to her beloved son, Brent Lee in her home town of Malta, Ohio.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Clay Gardens Place and Shriver’s Hospice for the excellent care they provided to Ellen.
