Michael D. LaShelle, 79, of Zanesville passed away while in the presence of his loving wife, Jodie Lashelle, on January 31, 2026. He was born on October 5, 1946 in Zanesville to Edward A. & Hazel Bash LaShelle. He graduated Ohio State University, and then joined the U.S. Air Force, and was a proud Vietnam Veteran who loved his country. Mike worked as an electrical engineer at various companies, including the Conesville Power Plant. An avid outdoorsman, Mike took pleasure in hunting and fishing; just being in nature made him happy. He also enjoyed the comradery that he found at the VFW. Mike was a music aficionado, and could be found listening to music ranging from the 1940’s to today’s tunes.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jodie Lynn (Mumford) Lashelle, whom he married on October 5, 1996, his son Darren (Richard) LaShelle, his daughter, Kaili (Bryan) Phillips, granddaughter, Lily LaShelle, as well as many nieces and nephews, including his special niece, Cynthia Jordan. He will be missed by his mercurially tempered cat, Miss Kitty aka “Fang Fang”.

In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his sons, Daniel & Robbie LaShelle, as well as his sisters, Evelyn McCutcheon and Suzanne Jendrejas, his brother, Winston LaShelle, and his beloved dog, Pursey.

A cremation will take place under the direction of BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE.
