Daniel B. LaShelle, 52, of Groveport, Ohio, died Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Fairfield Medical Center following an automobile accident. Dan was born December 17, 1969, in Columbus, Ohio, to Candice (Stewart) Hoover and Michael (Jodie) LaShelle. Dan served in the United States Marines, Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines, and was a team member of the first ever Riverine Assault Craft Platoon. He was a proud member and officer of Ironworkers Local 172. Dan traveled widely, read extensively, loved the outdoors and playing music, and was a devoted father and friend.
In addition to his parents, Dan is survived by his daughter, Lily A. LaShelle; a brother Darren (Richard Wall) LaShelle; as well as half-sister, Kaili (Bryan) Phillips; step siblings, Bryan (Carol) Hoover, Jeff Hoover, and Beth (Ken) Groom; he will be missed dearly by many friends, relatives, fellow veterans, union brothers and sisters, and special friends Margo LaShelle, Michelle Williams, and Janette Murvine.
Dan is preceded in death by beloved grandparents A. Dayle Bailey and Hilma Bailey, and half-brother Robert LaShelle.
Friends and family are invited to come together and celebrate Dan's life from 2:00 P.M. until the time of a military service at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, OH, Military services will be accorded to Dan by the United States Marines in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
