Lois R. Mitchell, 100, of Zanesville, died at 6:32 A.M. on Monday, February 16, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 20, 1925, in Muskingum County, a daughter of the late David Virgil and Lizzie (Engle) McGee. Lois was a volunteer foster grandmother from 1995 to 2019 at Avondale, McIntire, Zane Grey and Zanesville City School, where she would help kid with their homework and reading. She was a devoted member of the St, Luke Lutheran Church for 67 years but above all, Lois loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Ann (Jimmie) Kieffer of Zanesville and Susan Dennis of Chandlersville; a sister, Mary Kent of Zanesville; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren with one on the way.
In addition to her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her husband, George W. Mitchell, who died February 25, 1985; three sisters, Marie Moore, Eva Hastings and Ruth; an infant sister, Cora; four brothers, Wesley McGee, Charles McGee, Floyd McGee and Harold McGee; and a son in-law, Lynn Dennis Jr.
Friends and family may call from 9:00 A.M. until time of service starting at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, February 20, 2026 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, with Pastor Aaron Bounds officiating. Lois will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, George at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
