Ellen Louise Whittington

Ellen Louise (Marshall) Whittington, 81, of Hagerstown, Md. went home to be with the Lord and her children on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Doey's House, Hagerstown.
Born March 13, 1940 in Hagerstown she was the daughter of the late, Walter Lee and Nora Myrtle (Churchey) Marshall. In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Whittington, Sr.; two daughters, Kathy J. Whittington and Ellen L. "Cook" Whittington; three sons, Gary W. Marshall,Timothy B. Whittington and Thomas E. Whittington, Jr.; eight sisters, Nancy Fitzgerald, Ruth Demottez, Betty Moore, Mary Marshall, Irene Schroyer, Edna Marshall, Pauline Curry and Dorothy Wiseman; five brothers, Robert, Pete, Buddy, Jim and Ralph Marshall.
Mrs. Whittington worked for 30 years as a sorter for Hagerstown Laundry and for 15 years for the Maryland Ribbon Company.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was an avid card player and a former member of the Eagles and Owls Club, Hagerstown.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna V. Patmon; one brother, John Marshall; fifteen grandchildren, thirty six great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Larry Miller officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 P.M.
