Ellene Naomi Nuzum, 99, passed away on August 1, 2025. She was born on June 29, 1926, the daughter of Lloyd and Virgie Pritchard. Ellene was a woman of great faith and was a member of Maranatha Bible Church. As a devoted piano instructor for over 20 years, Ellene dedicated her life to nurturing the musical talents of her students. Her love for music extended beyond the classroom—she faithfully played the piano and organ at church and joyfully lifted her voice in the choir for decades.
Ellene's legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched with her music and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Albert A. Nuzum; brother Byron Pritchard; and sons-in-law Barry Brockenbrough and Dan John.
Ellene is survived by her loving family; children Carol Brockenbrough, Jerry (Mary) Nuzum and Marilyn John; grandchildren Barry, Bob, Lisa, Jason, Dylan, and Lauren; great-grandchildren Keristan, Tyrus, Chloe, Avery, Emma, and Jolene; brother Edward (Nancy) Pritchard; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life during visitation on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron.)
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Maranatha Bible Church, (1424 Killian Rd, Akron) with Pastor Robert Weiss officiating.
