Obituary published on Legacy.com by Laughlin Service Funeral Home & Crematory - Huntsville on Oct. 29, 2025.
Our beloved Ellie Grace Anderson passed from this earth on Friday, October 17th, 2025. Ellie was born in
Huntsville, AL to her parents Misty and Mark Anderson and sister Lainey. She was in her senior year at Huntsville High School, a member of Junior Grace and Silver Circle, and planned to attend Auburn University in the fall. Ellie loved dancing, music and concerts, and her Element dance group and Huntsville High Dance Team both held an extraordinary place in her heart.
Ellie was an amazing teammate and athlete, and there were countless trips and competitions with her mom Misty that were notable in their outrageous fun and joy. But more important than anything, Ellie was filled with faith. Ellie loved the Lord and she and her best friend JR were building a faith life together. Ellie is survived by her mother, Misty Anderson, her beloved grandparents, Karen Elmore and Tes and Augden Short, aunts and uncles Genna and Brent Fincher, Andy Short and Amye Krogstad, Martha Lynn Hovis (Mike), Melanie Kuberg (Harry) and Sherry Grant (Ray), numerous cousins, friends that were family lovingly referred to as the Shanderwells, and close personal friends too numerous to count. Ellie, Lainey, and Anna and Lindsey Shepherd shared an entire lifetime of experiences.
Ellie was simply a light. Like the rest of her family, Ellie was easy going, fun and inclusive. She was a friend to everyone and saw the positive in every situation. She was loving, kind, and up for anything the family had planned. Her friends want you to know they will miss her genuine hugs, her Ellie 'belly' laughs, and that it was the little things in life that made her happiest. Trips to the beach, snow skiing and Texas to see her beloved grandparents and extended family were the norm and often included her closest friends. She laughed easily and gave her time and attention freely. Like the rest of her family, she loved adventure and spending time surrounded by her loved ones.
She was the glue that held everyone together, and Ellie did it with her gentle spirit and genuine goodness. We will carry Ellie's love with us forever. The world is a better place because of Ellie, and her impact on people is profound. Our hearts are shattered at her loss, but we take comfort in knowing where she lives and that we will see her again.
Visitation will be from 4 – 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Southwood Presbyterian Church, 1000 Carl T. Jones Drive.
