ELLIOTT SIRKIN Obituary

SIRKIN, Elliott Lewis Elliott L. Sirkin died peacefully in his sleep on February 16, 2026. He was 76. Elliott was born in Far Rockaway, New York and grew up in suburban Long Island. For several summers, he attended the prestigious Interlachen Arts Camp where he performed in various plays. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1971. After graduation, he worked in the Editorial Department at Harper&Row. Elliott had a lifelong passion for theater, especially musical comedy. In 1991-1992, he studied at the American Repertory Theater's Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard.Thereafter, Mr. Sirkin pursued a career as a freelance writer, specializing in film and theater. He interviewed and, subsequently, corresponded regularly with many of the great stars of Broadway, including Mary Martin, Ethel Merman and Helen Hayes. His articles appeared in a wide variety of publications, including The New York Times, Film Comment and The Atlantic. Elliott will be remembered fondly by his friends and neighbors on Upland Road in North Cambridge, where he lived alone for more than 30 years. Elliott is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Joel and Karen Sirkin and his nephews, Alex and Jake Sirkin. A private memorial will be held in remembrance. May his soul rest in peace.
