Ellis was a devoted Christian at New Life Christian Fellowship, in Dallas Pike, WV. He was a loving husband to his wife, Rosalie E. Charlton (Belt), for nearly 72 years. Ellis was a 21 year Air Force Veteran who served during WW2, the Korean War, and Vietnam.
In addition to his parents, Ernest F Charlton, Sr. and Ella Ruth Charlton (Seybold), he was preceded in death by his son, Robert W. Charlton; his son-in-law, Richard A. Humway; his brothers, Ernest F Charlton, Jr. (Mary), G. Albert Charlton (Mae), Robert L Charlton (Mary); and his sisters, Ella Mae Yerkey and Mary Lou Milvet (Charles).
Ellis is survived by his wife, Rosalie; his children, Ellis Charlton, Jr., Frank (Darla) Charlton, Bruce (Debra) Charlton, Darrell (Lori) Charlton, Cheryl Ripley, and Wayvoline Humway; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as other family and friends.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St. Wheeling (304-242-2311), where service will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 11am, with Pastor Gino Vercellotti officiating. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery with military honors provided by the Moundsville Veteran Honor Guard.
