Ellmon LeMasters Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Gunder Hall Chapel on Jul. 18, 2025.
Ellmon Bert "Elmo" Lemasters, age 85, of Marion, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

Born on January 5, 1940, in Flat Gap, Kentucky, Ellmon was the son of the late Walter and Melda (Adams) Lemasters. He was raised in the Green Camp area and attended Green Camp High School.

A proud patriot, Ellmon served his country in the United States Marine Corps. During his military service, he was stationed aboard two U.S. Navy ships and had the opportunity to travel the world. Of all the places he visited, he always said that Greece was the most beautiful.

After returning home, Ellmon began a long and dedicated career with Whirlpool Corporation in Marion, where he worked for over 37 years in various departments, including plastics, the pressroom, and as a crew leader. He retired in 2003 and moved to Indian Lake.

Ellmon was a man of few words. He found happiness in the simple things: tending his vegetable garden, keeping a meticulous yard, and spending time in nature-especially fishing and hunting. In recent years, he has watched church services on TV 39 and enjoyed listening as his great-great-niece, Isabella read him the Bible.

Ellmon is survived by his siblings, Willa Mae Hersman, Rev. Joseph (Bobbie) Lemasters, and Kathy Crawford; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Dellis, Wilma, and Delmon.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Home, Gunder/Hall Chapel (347 West Center St., Marion). A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m., with burial at Green Camp Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Capital City Hospice in Ellmon's honor.

Snyder Funeral Homes, Gunder/Hall Chapel is honored to serve Ellmon's family. Online condolences may be shared at www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com.
