Ellyn Sumption Obituary
URBANA - Ellyn Yvonne Sumption, 101, of Urbana, formerly of Parke County, Ind., passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023, in her residence with family at her side.
She was born July 20, 1921, in Chicago to the late Victor Gladstone Novander and Alpha Louise Carlisle Novander. She was the wife of Merle A. Sumption, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Doral Anne Johnson of Urbana; seven grandchirldren, Amanda Gardner, Cynthia Johnson, Beth Davis, Annette Martin, Brett Johnson, Heather Stevenson, and Robert Johnson; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was a 1938 graduate of J. Sterling Morton High School and retired from the University of Illinois. She supported the Rockville Area Crisis Center and she was a great reader.
Graveside services will be at noon Tuesday, May 23, at Zackmire Cemetery near Wallace.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Gooch Funeral Home, Rockville. Condolences may be offered at goochfuneralhome.com.
