Graveside Funeral Services for Elmer Davis, Jr., age 81, of Picayune, MS, who passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025, will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 11:00 am at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Picayune, MS.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 10:30 am until 11:00 am at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Elmer grew up in the very small community of Crossroads, MS, where he loved hunting and fishing. He played football for Poplarville High School until he was recruited by the United States Navy and enlisted. Elmer obtained his GED through the Navy and took off to travel the world on the USS Kitty Hawk, where he was a flight deck operator. During his time in the Navy, he was stationed in Japan, the Philippines, Hawaii, San Francisco and Key West. Elmer did (4) nine month tours aboard the USS Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War. He was extremely proud of his service with the Navy. In 1964, he married his wife of 42 years, Dorothy (Dot) Fradella Davis and moved to Picayune. After the Navy, he got a job as an iron worker in New Orleans and worked in this line of work for over 30 years until he retired.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Davis, Sr. and Ollie Wheat Davis; and his wife, Dorothy (Dot) Davis.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Deborah (Sandy) Randall; grandchildren, Ryan Randall and Ashley (Ricardo) Randall Cabanas; great grandsons, Mason and Ramsey; cousins, Louise Booty, and Shannon and Mark Smith; niece, Tonya Fradella; great niece, Taylor Fradella; and great nephew, John Joseph Fradella.
