Elmer Lee Duckett, age 95, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, in Manchester, Tennessee. He was born on September 8, 1929, in Blount County, Tennessee, to the late Robert and Millie Duckett. Lee was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Occupation Medal (Germany), and the Good Conduct Medal for his honorable service. After returning home, Lee made significant contributions to both his community and career. He worked as a craft supervisor at the Arnold Engineering and Development Center, where he contributed to aerospace research and development. Lee was also a Master Gardener, with a passion for growing and selling produce at the local farmer's market. His garden was not only a source of pride but also a way for him to connect with others, sharing his bountiful harvest with the community. He dedicated 16 years to public service as a Coffee County Commissioner, where he served on several committees and worked tirelessly for the betterment of his community. Lee was a member of First Baptist Church in Manchester, Tennessee, where his faith guided him in all aspects of his life. He was also a dedicated member of Highland Lodge No. 214 of the Free and Accepted Masons, where he was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on August 21, 1965. He was proud to serve the Masonic fraternity for over 60 years.

Lee was preceded in death by his beloved wife, June St. John Duckett; his parents, Robert and Millie Duckett; his brothers Bill, Harold, and Arnold Duckett; his sisters Evelyn Duckett, Lillian Lambert, and Mildred Thomas.

He is survived by his three children: Julee (David) Grosch of Morrison, Tennessee; Janet (David) Orrick of Manchester, Tennessee; and Chris (Julie) Duckett of Barrie, Ontario. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who were the light of his life, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Lee's life will be held at Central Funeral Home on July 27, 2025, at 3:00 PM, with visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Burial will follow at Ivy Bluff Cemetery in Cannon County.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pocahontas Community Center ([email protected]) or the Manchester Coffee County Public Library.
