Obituary of Elmira Carr
Elmira M. Carr, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on January 7, 2024. She passed away at her home, surrounded by her significant other and loving family who prayerfully and lovingly comforted her in her passing.
Elmira was a faithful woman who loved the Lord and shared that love with everyone she knew. Elmira was born Oct. 4, 1938 in Braddock, PA. Elmira spent her career as a nurse. She completed nursing school at Braddock General Hospital. She graduated from Duquesne University with a BS degree. Elmira served in the Air Force for six years, performing duties as a Vietnam flight nurse. She spent her career as a home health nurse. In retirement, she continued to nurse relatives and friends.
Elmira is survived by her significant other, one niece, and two cousins. Elmira had a flair for life and enjoyed making a gathering something special through laughter and fun. She had the best laugh ever and it was infectious. She once said, "for her funeral service she wanted two outfit changes during visitation". She made that comment with her arms reached out, a flip of her hair and a quick turn like a real Diva.
Visitation will be at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 W. Havendale Blvd, Winter Haven, on January 11, from 5 pm to 7 pm. A funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 12, at 10am at St. John Neumann Church, 501 Carter Rd., Lakeland. Interment will be at a later date at Bushnell National Military Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Good Shepherd Hospice, 450 Arneson Ave, Auburndale.
