Lucas & Son Funeral Home - PikevilleEloise Farmer, age 88 of Pikeville, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025 at Pikeville Medical Center. Up until the end, Eloise maintained her humble heart, kindness, grace, and independence. She will always be remembered for her love of her family and friends and her chicken and dumplings. She never met a stranger. Her sweet soul and gentle nature were like a magnet to everyone that met her. The loss of Eloise will be profoundly felt by all who knew her.
Born February 1, 1937, on Harless Creek, she was the daughter of the late Acie and Opal Thacker. She was a homemaker and was formerly employed as a cook by Elkhorn City High School. Eloise enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, sewing, and many family vacations to Atlantic Beach, NC.
Eloise is survived by her two loving daughters, Rita (Spike) Hurley, of Harold, KY and Donna Casey of Hartsville, SC; one daughter-in-law, Laurie Farmer, of Pikeville, KY; one grandson, Wesley Farmer of Flatwoods, KY; two granddaughters, Evelyn (Josh) Fields, of Midway, and Mackenzie Casey of Hartsville, SC; one great-grandson, Brandon Johnson of Pikeville, KY; 3 brothers, 2 sisters; a host of nieces and nephews; one special niece who never left her side during her hospitalization, Cara Godwin; and her beloved fur baby companion, Sam.
Eloise was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Edward Ravene (Ray) Farmer; her beloved son, Edward Farmer; one son-in-law, Chad Casey; 4 brothers, 2 sisters; and her other fur baby, Tim.
Visitation will begin on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 6 PM for family and friends, with special services at 7 PM Saturday and Sunday, at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home, located at 2931 US Highway 23 S, Pikeville, KY 41501. The funeral service will take place at 12 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2025, with Terry Gibson and Donnie Hall officiating, also at Lucas & Son Funeral Home, with burial in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Pikeville, KY.
