Eloise Lavern Casilda Freitas

Eloise Lavern (Bergado) Freitas, formerly Moritz, age 74, of Keaau, Hawai i, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Brendan Freitas and was previously married to the late Michael Moritz, with whom she shared many cherished years and memories. Born in 1951 to Emilio Bergado and Priscilla (Gattock) Waiohu, Eloise was raised in the beautiful towns of Lahaina and Waikapu. She attended Lahainaluna High School and was a proud 1969 graduate of Baldwin High School. After becoming a widow and raising three children on her own, Eloise pursued her dream of becoming an Accountant. She enrolled at Maui Community College, attending night classes while working tirelessly during the day at Heartfield's. She began her accounting career at Suda Construction & Mason Inc. (now Eha Associates, LLC) in Wailuku, followed by her work as a Payroll Specialist at Maui Economic Opportunity (MEO). In 2003, she and Brendan moved to the Big Island, where they started their own businesses, Star Mobile Entertainment and Star Mobile Carpet Cleaning. Eloise loved Jesus, the Denver Broncos, and expressing her creativity through painting, sewing, crocheting, fashion, and interior decorating. Her cooking and desserts were always winnah's! She was predeceased by her first husband Michael Moritz; her parents, Emilio Bergado, Priscilla (Gattock) Waiohu, and Sonnie Waiohu, Sr.; her sister Esmenia "Lee-Ann" (Bergado) Coloma; and her brother Alan Bergado. Eloise is survived by her loving husband, Brendan Freitas; her children, Dana-Jason (Carrie) Moritz of Coolidge, AZ; Dale-Julian (Andrea) Moritz of Kahului; Desiree-Janel "Hoku" (George, Jr.) Reyes of Ha iku; Kathleen (Jesse) Crews of Las Vegas, NV; Clinton Freitas and Daniel Freitas, both of Makawao. She is also survived by her grandchildren Justin (Jackie) Moritz, Caylen "Pili" (Moritz) Cruz, Isaac Freitas, Elijah and Elisabeth "Anuhea" Moritz, Aleina, Alisha, Aliah, Mason, and Brody Reyes; and her four great-grandchildren Jason and Jorge Moritz, and Anina and Luna Cruz. Additional survivors include her sister Rose-Mary (Stan) Perry of Van Buren, AR; her hanai siblings Charmaine (Mark) Orbistondo of Mililani, Kalani (Jan) Waiohu of Aiea, and Sonnie (Jaymie) Waiohu, Jr. of Waikapu; along with her uncles, aunties, cousins, and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
