Eloise Mack Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Walker Funeral Service and Chapel, Inc. - Champaign on Mar. 10, 2026.
Mrs. Eloise (Minuete) Mack

November 21, 1937 – March 6, 2026

Mrs. Nurse Eloise (Minuete) Mack, 88, of Peoria, Illinois, transitioned peacefully from this life to her heavenly home at 3:57 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by the love of two of her children and a cherished granddaughter.

Eloise was born on November 21, 1937, in Plant City, Florida, to the late John and Arlie (Davis) Minuete. From an early age, she embodied the spirit of compassion, strength, and nurturing that would define her life. She later moved to Illinois, where she was educated in the Peoria Public School system and proudly graduated from Manual High School in 1956.

On March 17, 1956, Eloise united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Oscar B. Mack. Their beautiful union was blessed with many years of love, partnership, and devotion, spanning 63 wonderful years until his passing. Together they built a strong family foundation rooted in faith, love, and resilience.

Eloise was a trailblazer in her profession. In 1959, she became one of the first African American graduates of the Methodist School of Licensed Practical Nursing. Her passion for caring for others led her to a long and meaningful career in nursing, where she faithfully served patients across several medical facilities throughout the Peoria area. She concluded her dedicated nursing career at Sharon Willows of Peoria, Illinois. Known for her gentle touch, kind spirit, and unwavering dedication, Nurse Mack left a lasting impact on countless patients and colleagues.

Beyond her professional life, Eloise was a woman deeply devoted to her family and community. She was a loving matriarch whose home was always a place of warmth, wisdom, and guidance. Her nurturing nature extended to everyone she encountered. She was also a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she shared fellowship and service with her community.

Eloise's greatest joy in life was her family. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: Kenneth (Gail) Norman of Antioch, Tennessee; Keith (Ramona) Mack, Sr. of Peoria, Illinois; Kim Mack of Peoria, Illinois; Karyn Mack of Peoria, Illinois; Kourtney (Tanya) Mack of Peoria, Illinois; Kara Mack of Peoria, Illinois; and Kouri Mack of Peoria, Illinois. She also leaves thirteen grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, and many extended relatives and friends who were touched by her love and kindness.

She is also survived by her brothers: Tommy, Charles, Willie, James, and David Williams; and one sister, Madius Johnson.

Eloise was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oscar B. Mack; her cherished grandson, Kameron Mack; three brothers, Joseph Minuete, Sammie Williams, and Johnny Williams; and one sister, Emma Morton.

Mrs. Eloise Mack will be remembered as a loving mother, devoted grandmother, compassionate nurse, and respected matriarch. Her life was a shining example of service, grace, and unconditional love. Though she has transitioned from this earthly life, her legacy will continue to live on through the many lives she touched and the family she cherished so deeply.
