Eloise K. Thomas, 98, a lifelong resident of Strasburg, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025 in the Hennis Care Centre at Bolivar.
Born on July 28, 1926 in Strasburg she was a daughter of the late Lyhl and Beatrice Yackey Deibel. Eloise was also preceded in death by her husband, Harvey E. Thomas on August 5, 1994; brothers, Earl, Herb, Lloyd, Fred and Joe Deibel; sisters, Mildred Steiner, Marie Snellenberger, Sarah Shaffer, Faye Ramey, Naomi Prysi, Esther Eckelberry; and son in law, Robert Crow.
Eloise was raised on the family farm, a place that not only shaped her upbringing but also served as the foundation for her life as a devoted homemaker and farm wife. She enjoyed following her grandchildren through their sporting events and academic achievements, always cheering them on with love and pride. Her hobbies included sewing and playing cards, pursuits that brought her joy and connected her to friends and family alike. In her younger days, she was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Strasburg, having contributed her time and talents to various church groups. Additionally, she was a member of the Tuscarawas County Senior Center.
Eloise is survived by her children, Karl (Lynnea) Thomas, Paul (Angelina) Thomas, Jean Crow, all of Strasburg, and Joan (Charles) Litten of Warsaw; brother, Ray Deibel of Dalton; sister, Helen Marshall of Richfield; sister-in-law, Diane Deibel of Stillwater; brother in law, Dean Prysi of Dundee;12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 16th starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg with Pastor Jason Rissler officiating. Interment will be at the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Lutheran Church at 211 8th St SW, Strasburg, OH 44680, or to the charity of one's choice.
