Elon Barnett

Some glad morning when this life is over, I'll Fly Away
Elon Barnett was born June 21,1946 in St. Anne, Jamaica to the late Clarence and Edna Barnett. In 1976 he married the Love of his life, the late Mrs. Essie Mae Barnett, where they would spend the next 34 years in Holy Matrimony. For many years he resided in Vero Beach Florida until his health begin to fail. He then relocated to Palm Bay, Florida where he lived with his daughter and son-in-law until his passing.
From the beginning of life his kindness and gentleness impacted all those he came in contact with. He believed in loyalty to his friends and family. Providing for his family and loved ones gave him great Joy. Whenever a helping hand was needed, he was always there. No was never an answer. He had a passion for gardening and that's where he could be found at any time during the day.... from sunrise to sunset, you could find him in one of his gardens, his place of serenity. A man with many attributes from cooking to gardening, no matter the task, he believed in giving his best.
Elon had a youthfulness about him that earned him the nickname "Young Boy" among his friends in Jamaica, who felt he was never aging. Even as the years would come and go, he never seem to age.
Elon retired from Indian River County School District where he worked for many years as a custodian. He was no stranger to hard work and believed that hard work always paid off in the end.
Though Elon may no longer walk beside us, his memories will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those he touched. A beacon of light guiding us through the darkness, his spirit will live on through generations to come. A gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He leaves to cherish his memories, Daughters; Tonya McDonald (Robert), Palm Bay, Fl. Carol Barnett, Jamaica, Sonya Ingram (Yan), Orlando, Fl, Yvette Gadson (Trenton/deceased), Charlotte, NC, Shamika Davis (Sam) Vero Beach, Fl., Brothers: James Barnett, Jamaica, Renon Barnett, Jamaica. Sisters: Una May Barnett, England, Veronica Barnett Brown, Jamaica. Goddaughters: Shanta Dawson, Orlando, Fl., Shonta Clark, Sebastian, Fl., Godson: Phillip McGriff (Tabitha), Gastonia, NC, Eleven Grandchildren, four Great Grandchildren, Special Nephew: Glaston Barnett, Orlando, FL., a Host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He will forever live in our hearts.
