Just Another Soldier, on His Way Home!
On August 15, 2023 at Claridge House in North Miami, FL, the life book of Deacon Henry Allan Bridgewater closed and the angels of the Lord ushered him into the presence his Lord and Savior, (who was standing there with His arms outstretched and), carried Henry across the portals of glory!
All of heaven rejoiced as this true man of God traded the old rugged cross (that he had been carrying), in exchange for a robe of pure white a crown and slippers glistening with gold.
He was born to the proud parents of the late Mr. Leviticus and Mrs. Florence Bridgewater in Nassau, Bahamas and was a United States citizen. As an ordained deacon, he was a true Christian, he had a humble, loving, giving and caring personality. Henry was a man of faith who loved God.
He was born on June 30th, 1949. His parents Mr. and Mrs. Leviticus and Florence Bridgewater and brothers Jeremy Bridgewater and Alexander Adderly, all preceded him in death.
Henry attended Rolle Town All Age School until age 13, then continued his education at St. John's College in Nassau, Bahamas. He successfully completed 21/2 years of college at Miami Dade Community College in Fire Science in hopes of becoming a firefighter one day.
Henry worked as a laundry presser in Nassau and later became employed at Bahamas Oil Refining Company in Freeport, Grand Bahama on January 29th, 1972. He passed the oil processing training course as a "B" Operator on May 1st,1976 and remained in that position until August 31st, 1985. He also served as a Police Officer Reserved for several years simultaneously with BORCO.
He relocated to Miami, Florida with his fiancé, Millerene Cox on September,1985 she became his wife on November 26th, 1990.
He was blessed with 4 children from a previous marriage.
Henry worked for Southern Wine and Spirits for 29 years and 7 months, and retired on December 31st, 2015 from his position as a Security Monitor.
Henry gave his life to the Lord and served in the church as an Ordained Deacon, Usher, Evangelist Ministry and also sang in the choir.
After rededicating his life to the Lord, and on September 6, 2016 in Israel, he was baptized again in the river Jordan. Shortly after the trip to Israel, Henry joined the 93rd Street Baptist church and served on the Pastor's Aide Ministry with a joyful spirit and could often be heard singing his favorite songs Buelah Land, Hold to God's Unchanging hands and I don't want no Peanut Butter & Jelly (I want my soul to be saved). He became an ordained deacon on January 10, 2023.
Henry was an outgoing person who loved reading his Bible, and quoting his favorite scripture, Psalm 91, singing, travelling, and meeting people. He had a wonderful way with kids and adults alike. Henry loved life and lived it to the fullest.
On Tuesday, August 15th, 2023, at The Claridge House, Henry heard and answered the Master's call and entered into His Lord's rest.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Millerene Bridgewater; four children: Natasha Bridgewater, Clyphane Bridgewater Knowles (Leevan), Henry Alfredo Bridgewater Jr. (Rochelle) of Freeport, Grand Bahamas, Melissa Rolle of Nassau, Bahamas; seven grandchildren, Marvin Lockhart, Nateo Bridgewater, Tyrek Bridgewater, Tyiajah Rolle, Lee Augustus Bridgewater Knowles, Malcolm & Mason Bridgewater, and one great grandchild, Tyrek Bridgewater Jr.; a special person, aunt Marion Rolle of Rolle Town, Exuma; sister's, Angela Roberts and Joann Bowleg of Freeport, Grand Bahamas, Brendalee of Atlanta, Georgia, Andrea Clark and Hilda Hampton (Derald) of Sebastian, Florida, Martha Wynn (Fleming,) Helen Monroe, and Betty Warren of Vero Beach, Florida; brothers, Thomas Charlton of Nassau, Bahamas, Phillip (Sharon), Alfred and Timothy Bridgewater and Leroy Eldell of Vero Beach; Florida; sisters-in-law, Louise McIntosh of Provo, Turks & Caicos Islands and brother-in-law, Douglas Cox of Atlanta Georgia; like a son, Mr. Llewelyn Phillips; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and special friends whom he considered like family, (to name a few) are, Mr. Paul and Mrs. Marie Armbrister and Ms. Earnestine Smith of Freeport, Grand Bahamas, Mr. & Mrs. Wesley McNair of Miami, Florida, Tyrone English of Fort Lauderdale, Lynn Boothe of Miami Lakes, Ms. Nicky Jackson of Providenciales, Ms. Margaret Lewis and Family, Ms. Guerda Dorismond and Family, Mr. Pierre & Mrs. Yolene Alcius, Florita, Tucker Williams & Raquel Malcom of Miami, Florida, who will dearly miss him.
Henry, fought a good fight, he kept the faith and now has finished his course, which is typical of another soldier, who has made his way home.
