A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Elray was born on November 13, 1962, to Ophie and Anelia Moneaux Mire. He was an oil rig manager for Nabors Drilling USA, where he worked for 28 years. Elray loved traveling either by motorcycle or Jeep, on long trips to his favorite places in Arkansas, Tennessee, or just short trips with his favorite people. On his days off, he loved to wash and detail his Jeeps, cooking, relaxing in his shed, cutting his grass, and being with his family. He loved being a Paw to his grandchildren. Elray was a man of many trades. If he needed it, he would build it himself, or if something needed repairing, he would repair it himself. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Janet Hebert Mire of New Iberia; mother, Anelia Moneaux Mire of New Iberia; children, Callie Mire Arceneaux (A.J.) of Erath, Tyler Mire (Kaylee) of New Iberia, and Molly; brother Wade Mire of New Iberia; grandchildren, Ella, Emerson, Evelyn, Claire, Calvin, Ari, Emmie, Ava, and Rayni;
Elray was preceded in death by his father, Ophie Mire; grandchildren, Jon Tyler Arceneaux and Isabelle Mire; grandparents, Obin and Marie Mire, Edwin and Irene Moneaux; in-laws, J.B. and Rita McDonald, and Francis Hebert.
