Elsbeth E. Flunker

Elsbeth Esther (Tornow) Flunker age 89 of Neenah, passed away on May 20, 2023 at Valley VNA Senior Care. Elsbeth was born in Caroline, WI on August 10, 1933, daughter of the late Rudolph and Magdalena (Zuberbier) Tornow. She attended Doctor Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, and was an elementary school teacher in Milwaukee, Janesville, Green Bay and Neenah. Elsbeth married Kenneth L. Flunker on June 30, 1968. A faithful member and tireless volunteer at Grace Lutheran Church in Neenah, Wisconsin, Elsbeth served as church organist and choir director for many years. She also taught piano lessons in her home and enjoyed sharing her love of music more than the modest income it produced. Elsbeth is survived by a son, Joel (Connie) Flunker; a daughter, Christine (John) Crofts, and 5 grandchildren: Theodore, Elisabeth and Ruth Flunker and Benjamin and Alexander Crofts. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Hans and Lothar Tornow; 2 sisters, Hildegard Tornow and Bianca Bernthal; a stepfather, Martin Clausen and many beloved siblings-in-law and extended family members.
The Christian Funeral Service for Elsbeth will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1390 Breezewood Lane, Neenah with Pastor Nathaniel Buchner officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Waupaca. A memorial is being established.
