Elsbeth J. Orr

Elsbeth J. Orr, age 89, of Glen Ellyn, IL, passed away with her loving sons by her side on Thursday, November 6, 2025. She was born on November 11, 1935, in Schramberg, Germany, to Ernst and Rosa Geiger.

Elsbeth grew up in the Black Forest (Schwarzwald) area of Germany and was very proud of her roots. She and her Family braved the events of World War II, and Elsbeth eventually emigrated to the United States, where relatives from the Geiger and Sauter families sponsored her entry. After working various jobs, she eventually started working at AMPEX where she met many lifelong friends, and the love of her life, Al Orr. The two were married on May 28, 1966, and began a family with two sons, Marc and Micheal. They moved to several locations in their early years to include Glendale Heights and eventually moved to Glen Ellyn in 1975, where she made a comfortable and welcoming home for over 50 years.

Over the years Elsbeth held several positions, most notably working as a cashier in the Cafeteria at Spraying Systems Co, in Carol Stream, IL. While Elsbeth enjoyed her work and took pleasure in helping others, she sincerely believed that taking care of her family was the most important thing to devote her time to. She supported her sons in their aspirations as they grew into adulthood. As time went on Elsbeth became a grandmother to two beloved grandsons, Johnathan and Kenneth. She truly loved spending time with her family and friends.

In her free time Elsbeth enjoyed working with the children in AWANA and Student Ministries to ensure proper understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She and her husband Al enjoyed "glamping" across America in their RV and seeing the many beautiful sights our country has to offer.

Her faith was very important to Elsbeth. She passed her love of God on to her children and grandchildren through her actions and example.

Elsbeth leaves behind her devoted children Michael and Marc and his wife Leatha, and loving grandchildren Johnathan and Kenneth. She is also survived by her sister Marlene Maier in Germany, and countless extended family to include her sister-in-law Vickie. Elsbeth will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her for the profound impact she had on their lives.

Elsbeth was preceded in passing by her parents Ernst and Rosa Geiger, her loving husband of almost 43 years, Albert Orr, and her three sisters, Irmtraud, Dorit, and Brigitte.

The Visitation will be held on Sunday November 16, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM with a Funeral Service at 12:30 PM at Hultgren Funeral Home, 565 Randy Rd, Carol Stream, IL 60188. A private interment will be held at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
