Elsie Marie Garner

Elsie “Sis” Wall Garner, 74, passed away at her home on Thursday, December 26, 2024.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 30 , 2024, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Surrett officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2024, and other times at the home. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Memory Gardens.

Elsie was born in Rockingham County to the late Chester and Elsie Wall.

Throughout her life, Sis had a profound love for the outdoors, often found enjoying the beauty of nature that surrounded her. Her adventurous spirit led her to the halls of Cherokee, where she delighted in the thrill of gambling, creating fond memories among friends and family alike. This enthusiasm for life extended into her kitchen, where she expressed her love through cooking, frequently hosting gatherings where no child ever went hungry. Sis had a remarkable talent for making everyone feel at home, whether they were family by blood or by choice, and her doors were always open to those in need of a little care and comfort.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Delbert Ray Garner; daughters, Mary Ann Garner and Deborah Marie Garner; brothers, Jerry Wall, Charles Wall, and William Wall.

Elsie is survived by her daughter, Donna Garner; brothers, Russell “Pee Wee” Wall and Ricky Proctor; sisters, Sandra Moore and Teresa Galloway; grandchildren, Christy Goodman, Amber Holder, Tom Kallam (Chelsea), Brandi Kallam, and Taylor Kallam; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Maysen, Annie, Maclin, Cash, and Cain as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
