Elsie McLaughlin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vincent Funeral Home - West Point on Feb. 4, 2026.
Elsie McLaughlin, age 92, of New Kent Virginia, born on November 20, 1933, peacefully departed this life on January 30, 2026, to be with her Lord and Savior. Elsie lived a life marked by quiet strength, grace, strong faith and unwavering love for her family and community.

Elsie was devoted to her home and to those she loved most. Her warm, gentle spirit, and steady presence created a foundation of comfort and care that spanned generations. Elsie and Bert spent many years together raising a family, operating a campground and being involved in numerous civic organizations over their 58 years together. She found joy in simple moments, cherished family traditions, and the beauty of a life well lived in faith as a devoted member of Providence United Methodist Church.

She is lovingly survived by her sisters, Barbara Saddler, Betty Kennard, Laura Mae Willis; son, Mark McLaughlin (Kimberly), along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever carry forward her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience.

Elsie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bert E. McLaughlin; brother Robert Sibley; sisters, Deloris Wright, Ruby Hogg; son, Steven McLaughlin; daughter, Theresa Smith; grandson, Jason Meade. Though deeply missed, she is joyfully reunited with them in eternal peace.

Elsie's life was a testament to faith, family, and enduring love. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her gentle influence will continue to guide those she leaves behind.

The family will receive friends at Providence United Methodist Church, 4001 New Kent Highway, Quinton, VA 23141 on Saturday February 28, 2026, 11:00 am for a memorial service celebrating her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Providence United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 118, Quinton, VA 23141.
