Elsie Catherine Rieckmann

Elsie C. Rieckmann, age 89, of Appleton, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at St. Joseph Residence in New London. She was born on June 2, 1934 on the family farm in Dale, the daughter of the late Erwin and Anna (Schumacher) Borgwardt.
On May 7, 1955, Elsie married Arden Rieckmann at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dale. He preceded her in death on November 11,1998.
Elsie worked for AAL (Thrivent) for over 25 years and she also worked for Perks Supper Club in Dale for 15 years.
Elsie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Zittau, and served as the chairman of the Funeral Luncheon Committee for many years. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 391 in Fremont and was a former president and enjoyed preparing for the annual chili luncheons.
Elsie enjoyed traveling with Arden, and she also loved to dance, especially waltzes and the jitterbug.
Elsie is survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arden; her daughter and son-in-law, Shelby and Doug Blaauw, and two sisters, Gertrude(Willard) Huettl and Erdine(Donald)Selle.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9077 North Rd., Fremont. Pastor Tauna Roth will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, from 11:00 am until the time of service..
