Elsie Marie Rose White, 88, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at her residence in Mint Springs.
She was born on March 14, 1937, in Bedford, Virginia, to the late James Eli and Eva Jane Johnson Rose.
Elsie served as a nurse’s aide at Western State Hospital for an impressive forty-five years. After retiring from the hospital, Elsie continued serving others as an associate in the apparel department at Waynesboro Wal-Mart Supercenter for seventeen years.
Outside of her professional life, Elsie found great joy in her hobbies and interests. An avid gardener, she had a particular passion for flowers. Elsie cherished her children and grandchildren, always prioritizing time spent with them and fostering deep bonds that will be treasured memories for years to come.
Elsie also had a keen sense of style and was known for being very particular about her hair and nails. Her engaging and social nature led her to join a CB club, where she was known by her handle, "Ramblin Rose," further showcasing her lively spirit.
She is survived by her son, Joseph “J.D.” Daniel White, Jr. (Lisa); her daughters, Donna Sue White Cook and Sonya Renee White Davis (Leo) her grandchildren, Donny (Amy) and Dana Cook (Matt), John Michael Swink, Jason (Danielle) and Jessica White (Emanuel), Adrienne Davis, and Amanda Roddy (Lauren); her great-grandchildren, Colin Cook (Ashante), Corbin Rose (Emma), Keelan Tlaxcala White, Brocc Zwart, Luna Flippin-White, Chase Cook, Bailey Williams, and Rosalynn Roddy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
