Patricia “Patsy” Ann Daniel Dillon passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, surrounded by family at her residence in Staunton, Virginia.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John Dillon; daughter, Chris Conyers, and partner, Mike Engleman; son, Mike, and wife, Lori; and four grandchildren, Taylor Conyers, Caleb Conyers and wife, Carley, Elizabeth Winston and husband, Malik, and Emily Dillon. She is also survived by two brothers, Dan and wife, Rebecca, and David and wife, Brenda; along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Patsy was born in Buckhannon, West Virginia, the first child of Malvin and Martha Daniel. She was a loving older sister to her brothers, Dan and David. Raised with a strong sense of family and community, she carried these values with her throughout her life.
Upon graduating from Buckhannon-Upshur High School, she moved to Richmond, Virginia, to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. She enrolled in Stuart Circle Hospital School of Nursing, a path that would introduce her to the love of her life, John. They were married in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, and began their new journey together. John and Patsy soon settled in Staunton, Virginia, where they built their home and family.
In addition to her husband, John, Patsy’s loves were Jesus, her family, and artwork, through which she captured God’s beauty in her paintings and in her flowerbeds. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and visited all 50 states, as well as Ireland, England, and Wales.
Patsy's life was deeply rooted in Christ, influencing others with her strong faith. She was a sixty-year member of St. Paul’s Church, where she was part of the Adult Fellowship Sunday School class and a small group fellowship. While raising her children, she was a Children’s Choir mother and, most recently, a “walker,” escorting children from the school building to the Weekly Religious Education (WRE) classes. She belonged to the Staunton Lighthouse AGLOW International Christian Women’s Fellowship, where she served as president for many years.
Patsy’s family was her joy. She loved raising her children, but when the grandchildren came along, she often said, “Having grandchildren is almost as good as being saved.” She delighted in watching them find their own paths. She was their biggest fan, supporting them in any way she could. No matter what the event was or how far away, she was always there to cheer them on. Her latest joy was the recent weddings of Caleb (Carley) and Elizabeth (Malik), and she embraced these new family members as her own.
She cherished the time spent with family and friends, particularly the shared meals around the table, where stories were told, laughter was abundant, and love was the main course. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, family, faith, and the simple joys that make every moment special.
A celebration of Patsy’s life will be held at St. Paul’s Church in Staunton at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2025, with Reverend Ryan Oswald officiating. Friends may pay their respects to Patsy one hour prior to the service in the church.
The family will receive friends immediately after the service, prior to interment at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Fishersville, Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Caleb Conyers, Jon Daniel, Andy Daniel, Mike Engleman, Kirk Ramsey, David Caywood, and Chris Brown.
