Mr. Elsworth Williams Jr., (affectionately known as "El, Easy, June/Jr."), of Winston-
Salem, North Carolina was born July 21, 1941, and peacefully went on to God and his loving wife on Thursday, August 24, 2023. Elsworth was the son of the late Elsworth Sr. and Catherine Williams.
Reminiscing back to 1967 the handsome Elsworth Williams left his large family back in Winston-Salem and touched the streets of
Wilmington, DE. Not long after Elsworth met a young fox named Helen Williams and their life truly began. Elsworth worked for the Wilmington Housing Authority for many years. Elsworth, like his wife, was highly respected in the community. When Storman Classic league had no photographer he stepped up to take on that responsibility. He also served as a basketball coach. Elsworth was a diehard Celtics and Redskins fan. If you know him, you know this. Lol. Prior to becoming an amputee Elsworth loved to ride his bike. He was a heck of a checkers player and didn't go many days without playing his numbers. He didn't just play, he would win, and often! Years ago June/Jr., Also joined as a Free Mason and was part of local Masonic Hall – 21.
Elsworths' wife Helen was a straight shooter but Elsworth was the muscle, a true hitter. Very honest and extremely loyal. He didn't pull any punches and he didn't play any games. Together, they were unstoppable. Elsworth was a private man but he had such a subtle but large personality. He would pass a joke by and catch you completely off-guard. Send you into an instant laughing session. Family was his top priority but he also held some friends as a close second. He along with his wife raised 2 of his granddaughters Tyshell and Shaunice. That was a testament to his character and the principles to stood on when it came to his family.
Elsworth leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Raythel Harvey, Harrison Peters, Orlando Foreman, Unseld Williams, Shannon Williams and Maurice Cooper; Daughter, Baretta Peters; Granddaughters, Tyshell Smullen, Matika Peters, Shanta Carter, Civita Peters, Nikara Foreman, Shaunice Johnson and her husband Maurice; Grandsons, Demaris McIntyre, Levi Blaylock, Derrick Peters, Maurice Jr. and Maurice Cooper; Great-grandchildren, Jahlay, Samiyah, Aliym, Josiah, Liam, Nyaire, Aynia and Karter; Sisters, Marilyn Page, Peggy Grooms and Theresa Brown; Brothers, Melvin, Nathaniel, Larry and Fred Williams; loving and devoted daughter-in-laws, Kashya Jones and her children Rah'Meir, Ra'Niyah, Ra'Nay and Robert Marks and Shena Dennis and her children Rahsheyda Dennis, Layton Mangrum and Jacqui Lopez; 1 loving and devoted daughter-in-love, Kiesha Skipwith-Williams; his closest friends, Lennell Lewis, Benjamin Cornaday, Chris and Timothy Wright, Dr. Love, Felix, Derrick Hamilton, William Ferrell and the Kirk Family.
Elsworth was warmly greeted at heavens gates by his wife of 55 years, Helen Foreman Williams, his mother Catherine, his father Elsworth Williams Sr., his daughter Alethia Carter, his grandson Jhonte' Peters, his siblings, Lessie and John Williams, James Houston and Shirley Guess and his close friends Leonard Hawkes, and Melvin Coley. As a family we understood the wishes of our father. We will forever hold him close, but we know the love story of our mother and father outshines all earthly light. Our father wanted to continue his love story and we are just thankful to have been witness to such wonderful union. He will be genuinely missed by those he has left behind including a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends not listed.
