Elva Guadalupe Alvarez Charles, 64 of Marion, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at St. Vincent Heart Center of Indianapolis. She was born in Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on Thursday, September 1, 1960, to Vicente and Lucila Valdez. She married Rafael Alvarez who survives.
Elva enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, crocheting, and cooking, especially making donuts. More than anything, she loved to spend time with her family.
In addition to her loving husband, Rafael, survivors include her sons, Hugo (Veronica Luna) Alvarez of Marion, Mario (Lesly Mendoza) Alvarez of TX, Juan (Fidel Cedillo) Alvarez of TX and Sebastian (Daniela Portillo) Alvarez of Indianapolis; daughters, Olga (Oswaldo Vargas) Alvarez of Marion and Yesenia (Alexis Rea) Alvarez of Marion; grandchildren, Eduardo, Rafael, Luis, Carlos, Orlando, Astrid, Natalie, Anthony, Emilio, Emily, Jacob, Jenipher, Getsemani, Giovanni, Destiny, Kaitlyn, Mario and Dayana; several great-grandchildren; brother, Juventino; sisters, Nora, Migdalia, Rosalva, Eloisa; plus many nieces, nephews and friends.
Elva was preceded in death by her father, Vicente Charles.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1031 W. Kem Rd., Marion, IN, 46952.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Elva's life will begin at 1:00 pm with Father Nelson officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park in Marion.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
