Nave Funeral Home - ErinElvia “Bernice” Lane, age 91 of Cumberland City, TN, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Houston County Community Hospital.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at the Chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Bro. Stephen Cathey officiating. Burial will follow in Lowry Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday afternoon.
Bernice entered this life on March 29, 1934 in Cumberland City, TN, daughter to the late Baylor and Grace Durham Brown. A lifelong resident of Cumberland City, Bernice married the love of her life, Ryman Lane, where she remained happily married for 47 years. Bernice was a faithful longtime member of Elk Creek Baptist Church and gave selflessly to her church family, and her community for many years. She had a love for working in the yard, sewing, and gardening; but her true passion in life was her family; she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Ryman Lane; siblings, Homer Brown, and Fronia Anderson.
Survivors include her loving sister, Laverne Downs; nieces and nephews, Terri (Terry) Mathis, Tracy Downs, Donna (Tom) Kluender, Terri Mohorn; great-nephews, Matt (Kari) Mathis, Aaron (Abby) Mathis; great-great-nieces and nephews, Lynlee, Case, Lainee, Carter, Emily, and Griffin.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elk Creek Baptist Church, P.O. Box 52, Cumberland City, TN, 37050; and/or Lowry Cemetery/ Amy Hollingsworth, 268 Little Fork Rd, Cumberland City, TN, 37050.
