Elvira A. Hernandez was born in Jourdanton, Texas on December 30, 1938, to Antonio Alvarez and Juanita Morones Alvarez, and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the age of 86. Elvira was the heart and soul of her family – a loving mother, cherished grandmother, and great-grandmother, devoted sister, and beloved aunt. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Elvira worked as a seamstress and served her community as a crossing guard, always offering a smile and a caring word to those she met. She brought joy and laughter into every room, whether she was playing bingo, enjoying a trip to the casino, or sitting in her favorite pew at church. Elvira had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and loved. Her gentle spirit, open heart, and beautiful presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all those who were lucky enough to know her.
She is preceded in death by her parents and children Juan A. Hernandez, Jr. and Susie Ann Longoria. Survivors include her beloved partner Armando Zuniga, loving children Judy Hernandez Solis (Tommy), Debbie Hernandez Cantu (Robert), and Richard Alvarez Hernandez (Mary Ann), Daughter-in-law Minerva Hernandez, Son-in-law Ricardo Longoria, sister Dolores A. Martinez, 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and other family members and dear friends.
