Emil Becker, Jr., age 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on January 2, 1945, he was the son of the late Emil and Bertha Becker. He was raised in Norwood, where he graduated from Norwood High School with the Class of 1962. Following graduation, Emil continued his studies at Wentworth Institute of Technology; however, his education was interrupted by Emil's Naval service during the Vietnam War. After completing his basic training, he was stationed with the Seabees, serving with the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Seven. He was honorably discharged in January of 1968, after earning the rank of Builder Petty Officer, Second Class.

As a talented craftsman, Emil quickly found work as a cabinet maker, where he custom built a variety of commercial cabinets for many well-known New England companies. In 1971, Emil applied his skillset to his own life, proudly designing and building his home in Walpole, with the help of his former wife, family, and close friends. Emil's hard work and dedication to his craft led him to a successful career which spanned more than 50 years. He finally decided to hang up his pencil in December of 2019. Upon his retirement, Emil could be found at home, watching his favorite black and white television shows, such as Bonanza, Gunsmoke, or Little House on the Prairie. More recently, he enjoyed touring his backyard on his newly acquired riding lawn mower.

Most of all, Emil was devoted to his family. As a young dad, Emil took an active role in his sons' lives, regularly volunteering to coach Walpole Little League for Tommy and Brian's teams. His drive to help the youth of Walpole carried beyond his sons' teams, as he went on to coach for several more years. In addition, Emil looked forward to spending time on the golf course with his close friends and sons, where he enjoyed being outdoors and having great conversations. Emil was delighted at the birth of his two grandchildren, Cassidy, and Jeremy, who affectionately gave him the nickname "Beepa." Beepa's favorite topics to talk about were his grandchildren's sporting events and accomplishments. Holidays and family functions were always important times for Emil, as he loved gathering at his sister's home with his extended family for a meal, storytelling, and laughter.

Loving father of Thomas A. Becker of Los Angeles, CA and Brian E. Becker and his wife, Erin, of North Attleboro.

Cherished grandfather of Cassidy and Jeremy Becker.

Devoted son of the late Emil and Bertha (Doderer) Becker.

Brother of Clara Becker; Georgia Shaw and her late husband, David; John Becker and his wife, Karen; Barbara Biundo and her husband, Gino; Carl Becker and his wife, Chris; Marie Watt and her husband, Bill; the late Louise Stampfl, and her late husband, Wally; and the late Robert Becker.

Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews, as well as their children.

Former husband and lifelong friend of Sara Becker-Gird and her husband, Charlie.

Also survived by many friends he acquired over the years who will fondly remember this kind and generous man who will be greatly missed by us all.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Emil's Life Celebration on Sunday, March 6, 2022, from 3 to 6 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.

His funeral service and interment will take place privately.
