Emil A. Mancini
"Proud Veteran of the U.S. Airforce"
Emil A. Mancini, 81, of Waterbury, entered into the gates of heaven on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances (Salvatore) Mancini; and the longtime companion of Monique (Bour) James.
Emil was born in Waterbury on December 22, 1944, a son of the late Emelio R. and Ann (Venditti) Mancini. Growing up in Waterbury, Emil attended Waterbury Public Schools and graduated from Crosby High School, Class of 1963, where he enjoyed playing the saxophone. Following high school, Emil honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, during the Vietnam Era. After his honorable discharge, Emil continued his education and earned his bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Connecticut.
Anyone who knew Emil could attest that he was a kind, gentle, and compassionate man. An avid gardener with a love for flowers and vegetables, Emil took great pride in tending to his garden. He also enjoyed attending car shows with his vintage Porsche, relaxing with a good imported beer, and traveling the world with his companion, Monique, and friends, whether on cruises, vacations, or trips to Mohegan Sun. As a proud UConn alumnus, Emil was a passionate supporter of UConn basketball and football, as well as the Patriots, and attended many games over the years with his brother and friends. Tuesday breakfast at McDonald's with the crew will never be the same without Emil's presence. His lasting friendships with his lifelong friends will always be cherished.
Emil leaves behind to honor and cherish his memory his two siblings, Anthony J. Mancini and his wife, Mary Ann of Oakville, and Louise Mancini of Waterbury; his longtime companion, Monique James of Watertown; his three nieces, Rosanne Mancini, Lynn Mancini, and Jennifer Mancini, all of Oakville; his great-nephews and great-nieces, Owen Jalbert, Hunter Mancini, Olivia Jalbert, and Alexa Mancini. He was predeceased, by his two beloved cats, Nike and Sheena.
Emil's family would like to thank the ICU staff at UCONN Medical Center and Waterbury Hospital for their care and compassion that they gave to him during his time there.
