Emil Weber Obituary

Emil Lee Weber M.D.

Evansville, Ind. - With overwhelming heartbreak yet thankfulness knowing that he is with our Savior, we share that our precious hero took his last breath on May 24, 2021. He left behind his beloved wife of almost 59 years, Jan, a son, Eric (Biljana) Weber, of Evansville, two daughters, Tish (Curt) Petty of Cumming, Georgia, Kimber (Jeff) Scarlett, of Evansville, and eight grandchildren, Evan and Sasha Weber; Hannah and Quinn Petty; and Lukas, Savanah, Juleah, and Caden Scarlett. He is also survived by his sister, Marlene Agee. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mildred and Emil Weber, and brother, Lowell Weber. Emil loved and attended Christian Fellowship Church and was an active member in the choir and orchestra. He also enjoyed his Civil War Band in which he participated until Covid-19.

Emil is so very loved, and his absence will leave a chasm in all of our lives. He was fully committed to his family and his fellow man. He dedicated his entire life to the service of others in the medical field. He was a man of unshakable conviction; a man of integrity and honor; and a beautiful soul who loved and experienced life to its fullest. His desire to experience all things was evident in his varied hobbies-world travel, history, philosophy, outer space, animals, skiing, Formula 1 racing, music, tennis, and, of course, his children and grandchildren.

Emil was born in Evansville on March 22, 1939, the middle of three children, to Mildred and Emil Weber. He grew up working in his family's hardware store on Weinbach Avenue. Emil attended Bosse High School and Indiana University-- undergraduate and medical school. He then joined the Air Force to serve his country where he worked as a general surgeon. After his service, Emil decided to specialize in neurosurgery; he attended Duke University to complete his residency program. Emil and Jan then moved back to Evansville where he began his practice, servicing Evansville and the surrounding areas. After 34 years of dedicated service, Emil retired from neurosurgery but stayed busy consulting for Deaconess and chaired the Indiana Donor Network to help raise awareness and develop standards to improve organ donation throughout the state. He also served on the board of Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation's Medical Professionals Academy. Then in 2005, he was awarded the prestigious Indiana State Sagamore of the Wabash Award. Emil continued to study the world and serve his fellow man until the very end. Although we long for more time with him, God determined that it was time for Emil to take his place in Heaven.

We are so grateful to God for blessing us with this wonderful husband, father, grandfather, doctor, and friend. We are who we are because of his life and example; we will miss him and honor him in our memory every day.

A celebration of Emil's life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Christian Fellowship Church, 4100 Millersburg Rd., Evansville, IN 47725 with Pastor Dale Beaver officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military honors.

Friends may visit from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Christian Fellowship Church and again from 9:00 am until service time at the church on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Indiana Donor Network, 3760 Guion Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46222.

I worked with Dr. Weber for 25 years on the Neuro team as CST and spent many an hour assisting him. He was an excellent surgeon and enjoyed working with him.

Dr Weber was a great doctor, talented surgeon, and advocate for his patients. He was an honorable man with great integrity. I worked at Deaconess and took care of his patients. My Mom, although passed now, worked beside Dr Weber in Surgery and always spoke highly of him. Deepest sympathies go out to his family as well as prayers.

Amazing what an impact a man can have in the world... just by him acting on his special talents! I didn't know him personally, however I noticed him in the 8 AM choir at CFC and in the Band and thought what a talented man, being a neurosurgeon yet keeping up with and sharing his other talents.
He and his wife was always so generous to yearly allow CFC single adults group to have their Christmas party in a beautiful place when I was a member of it. It does take a special heart for other souls when a family allows others into their private residence. Even the acquaintances will miss his presence at Christian Fellowship Church!
May Jan and the family rest in Christ's peace knowing grace has made a way for heaven. And also continue in your Faith, Hope and Love, in which Dr. Weber lead you by example.

My heartfelt sympathies to Dr. Weber's family. I came under Dr. Weber's care at 14 years of age with serious spinal injuries. He was a skilled and caring physician. Years later as an adult, I was blessed to hear him as a talented musician in the orchestra visiting our church.
No doubt many patients were blessed by his healing talents and his service to God.

What a great man and physician he was. I had the honor of working with Dr. Weber for many years at Deaconess Hospital in Unit 2000. He was always honorable, putting his patient's wellbeing first and foremost. It is sad to hear of his passing, but knowing he will be with his Lord and Savior is comforting. My deepest condolences to his entire family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I met Emil through my brother Dave King and immediately liked him. I also deeply respected him as the very astute physician and brain surgeon. Via long distance, he supported me thorough my diagnosis and treatment of Acoustic Neuroma. He will always be greatly appreciated and loved, not only for who he was but also for all he did for everyone he knew. He was a most unselfish and loving man.

Emil and I were friends in high school. I remember one afternoon we were walking out through the front door, talking about what the future might bring. I was unsure what I would do. He looked down at his hands and said: " I have small, strong hands. I'll be a surgeon." I'm deeply grateful he gave a call a few months ago. We had a good conversation after thirty or so years of being out of touch.

Dr. Weber and his wife, Jan, were always supportive of all the North HS Band students. His daughter, Kimber, was a very gifted musician and a tremendous leader as drum major of the North Green Brigade. Personally, Dr. Weber was a great blessing to several in my family and to many others I know. He was a very giving, kind, considerate man. I'm praying for Jan, Eric, Tish, Kimber, Marlene Agee, his grandchildren, and all of his wonderful family.

What can I say that has not been so eloquently said. He has on many occasions offered his medical expertise when our family has been in need of it. He was a kind and wonderful man. He will be greatly missed by all the lives he touched. Which I'm sure are too numerous to count. I'm sending my love and prayers to his loving and devoted wife Jan,and to his children and grandchildren. May God hold you close for the days to come.

We send our sincere condolences to you Jan and family on being separated from Emil for a while but eternity in Heaven together is promised by our Savior. We all wait for it is “In His Time”.
Jan, Emil and his parents were a part of Peggy’s (Langhorst) youth for her dad and brother were regular customers at the family hardware store and her dad and Emil’s dad were friends. Emil was just a few years ahead of Peggy at Bosse then thru the years with Dr. Emil helping with family health issues, supporting Impact Ministries and many years at CFC, there has always been a familiar bond.
We truly know God will give you and your family the comfort and peace you need.

Doctor Weber was a supported of his children and grandchildren. One memory is when his daughter was drum major of the marching band and he supported the production by assembling props for the show on our first trip to regional competition. He was always willing to help and step up to support the programs at North and throughout the community. A great person who will be missed
Our sympathy. Jane and Richard Bernhardt
