Emily Adkison

Emily Jo Adkison-Garcia, age 49, of Mt. Pleasant TX., passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, in Mt. Pleasant TX.

Emily was born on August 31, 1973, in Mt. Pleasant TX., to Jesse and Marsha (Amerson) Adkison. She married Luciano Garcia in April of 2001.

She is survived by her husband, Luciano   Garcia of Mt. Pleasant TX, her father, Jesse R. Adkison, her children: Kathryn Elizabeth Garcia, Daniel Roy Garcia, and Sara Olivia Bernal and husband Jhovani, her sisters; Jennifer Anne-Adkison and Melissa Brenton and husband Tim, and her grandchildren;, Lucas Lee Garrett, Noelle Faye Garrett, and Karsyn Elizabeth Garcia. As well as numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. 

Emily and Chano were best friends, and they shared their lives for 32 years; living in Mt Pleasant and raising their 3 children together with Emily being a stay-at-home mother dedicated to her children and husband. She was the family historian, the “keeper of the stories’, and she remembered in great detail how every family member and friend was connected to one another, as well as to us. She would pass down the stories from our Grandmother Charlie Jo and other matriarchs, and it was like being transported back in time. The knowledge she gave to us all will be missed greatly.

Emily was funny, encouraging, generous, and selfless. Everyone that spent time with her was left better for it. She absolutely adored being a Nonna, spending time with her grandchildren every chance she had. Her faith in God was unwavering, and she always had an encouraging word or prayer. She reached out to the sick, prayed for healing in others, and lived in a way where you could not help but feel loved in her presence. Emily was patient, kind, and always put her family first. She was a wonderful sister, a faithful friend, and loving daughter. I only hope we can carry her spirit with us through the next generations.

 

She was preceded in death by her Mother, Marsha Adkison, her grandparents, Marshall Roy Amerson and Emma Faye- Amerson, and Willie Adkison and Charlie Jo Adkison.

 

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at 10:00-12:00 P.M at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, TX. A graveside service will follow Keith Cemetery in Cookville, TX.
