Emily Bennett Barton

Emily Bennett Caughman Barton, 85, wife of the late John Barton, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Prisma Laurens County Hospital.

Born in Clinton, she was a daughter of the late Fletcher and Juliaette Duckett Bennett. Emily attended Full Gospel Assembly and was formerly employed with Laurens Glass for thirteen years and Laurens Memorial Home. She cherished her family and was "Nanny" to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a son, Michael Caughman (Jennifer); grandchildren, Mason Coleman, Erin Bailey (Bryce), Samantha Caughman, Adriana Caughman, Christopher Caughman (Flor), Kaitlin Caughman, Austin Hix, Matthew Hix, Mandy Caughman, Travis Henderson; thirteen great grandchildren; and a special nephew, Tim Nalley.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by children, Delores Case, Mark Caughman, Tina Hix, and Dennis Caughman; and siblings, Jolene Nalley, Yvonne Ray, Dennis Bennett, and Elaine Olmsted.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, January 30, 2026, at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Donnie Holland and Rev. J.D. Putman, Jr. with burial in Rosemont Cemetery in Clinton. The family will speak to friends at the cemetery immediately following the committal.

The family will be at her son's home, 102 Washington Street, Clinton, SC 29325.
