Emily Virginia Porter Bowen, age 76, of Columbus, MS, passed away November 10, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be Friday, November 14, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Walter Butler officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until the time of the service at Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mrs. Bowen was born November 18, 1948, in Columbus, MS, to the late Walter and Wilma Robertson Porter. She attended New Hope High School and retired from Johnston Tombigbee Furniture Manufacturing Company. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Allen Porter, and sister, Evelyn Gore.
Survivors include her son, Jason Bowen and his wife Brittany of Columbus, MS, daughters, Lisa Bowen of Columbus, MS, and Jennifer House of Jonesboro, AR, brothers, Stephen Porter of Monroe, GA, and Jerry Porter of Columbus, MS, sisters, Shelia Stanford of St. Gabriel, LA, and Sharron Polozoa of Melville, LA, grandchildren, Justin Bowen and his wife Kaylon, Payton Bowen, Michah Landcaster, and John David Hudson, and great grandchildren, Brody Bedola and Hallie Hall.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN, 38105. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Brad Brown, Nick Pennington, and all the nurses and staff of Baptist Memorial Hospital.
