Mrs. Emily Eunice Chavers, 80, of Americus, GA, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Perfect Care Personal Care Home in Americus, GA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Ellaville Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 1:00PM. Serving as pallbearers will be the Deacons of Ellaville Baptist Church.
Mrs. Chavers was born in Ellaville, GA, on December 24, 1944, to Henry Irvin and Thelma Dillard Tidd. She worked at Manhattan Shirt Factory for many years until they closed and then retired from Tog Shop/Gertrude. Mrs. Chavers was a devoted member of Ellaville Baptist Church. She loved to dance and enjoyed gardening and flowers. Mrs. Chavers was known for the delicious pound cakes and casseroles she cooked over the years. She was a resident at Perfect Care Personal Care Home in Americus for four years. Mrs. Chavers made many friends at Perfect Care and enjoyed the activities and outings they offered. The amazing staff there became just like family to her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Chavers, Sr., three brothers, Tony Tidd, Joe Tidd, and Bruce Tidd, and three sisters, Venida Layfield, Marilyn Overby, and Shirley Wells.
She is survived by three daughters, Connie O’Hearn of Vienna, GA, Jennifer and Terry Griggs of Ochlocknee, GA, and Dawn and Earl Godwin of Plains, GA; four step-children, Karen and Kevin Smith of Evansville, IN, Penny and Jeff Statham of Tifton, GA, Wesley Chavers, Jr. of Americus, GA, and Bobbie Jo and David Reynolds of Baconton, GA; by a brother, Henry and Debbie Tidd; four grandchildren, Brandie Durham, Wesley Pennington, Lynton Godwin, and Landon Godwin; and by three great-grandchildren, Hannah Harbuck, Noah Deal, and Eli Durham.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ellaville Baptist Church, P. O. Box 325, Ellaville, GA, 31806, or Perfect Care Memorial Fund, 114 Sullivan Drive, Americus, GA, 31709.
