Emily DeLong, a cherished presence in the lives of many, passed away on August 26, 2025, in West Allis, Wisconsin. Born on February 20, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Emily spent her formative years in Bay View, where she graduated from high school.
In 1956, she was named the 21st annual Ms. Boat Show, which began a career as a model. She captivated many with her grace and charm. Her adventurous spirit led her to a successful transition into the culinary world, where she fulfilled her dreams as a pastry chef owning The Gourmet Bake Shop. Her culinary creations were not only a testament to her skill but were also infused with the love she had for her craft—a love she shared generously with all who had the pleasure of tasting her delights. She was proud to have had the honor of baking a birthday cake for Emeril Lagasse.
Above all, Emily was a devoted and loving mother. She embraced motherhood with a passion that defined her life. Her nurturing spirit remains an indelible part of her legacy. She is remembered for the warmth and kindness she brought to every interaction and for her unwavering dedication to her family.
An enthusiastic traveler, Emily enjoyed exploring new places and experiencing different cultures, enriching her life and the lives of her loved ones through her adventures. Her zest for life inspired those around her, reminding them of the importance of embracing every moment.
Emily is lovingly survived by her brother, Jim DeLong of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and her sister, Barbara Dodge of Virginia. She will be loved, remembered and missed by many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Rebecca, and by her parents, John and Joan DeLong of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
As we reflect on Emily's life, we celebrate her creativity, her compassion, and the lasting impact she had on those fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories they crafted together. She will be laid to rest with her daughter at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Milwaukee, WI. Emily loved her two dogs Coco and Charlie please consider making a donation in her name to your local animal shelter.
