It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeannene Eleanor Delong, who departed this life on August 26, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on July 16, 1936, in Wagon Landing, Wisconsin, Jeannene led a life filled with warmth, humor, and genuine connections. After over 40 years as a dedicated proofreader in the law department at West Publishing, she retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and attention to detail.
Jeannene spent many cherished years living in Prescott, Minnesota, before calling Siren, Wisconsin, home in the 1980s. She was married to her beloved husband, Jim "Lum" Delong, who predeceased her on March 27, 2014.
A true cat lover, Jeannene adored her two furry companions, Sissy and Sassy, who brought joy to her days. She was a beloved regular at the Last Call and Midtown Bar, where she was known for her infectious laughter and fiery spirit. Her friendships extended far and wide, and she will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched.
She found comfort and care at Sophie's Manor in Centuria, where she spent the last six months of her life. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Sophie's Manor for their kind and compassionate care of Jeannene.
Jeannene was preceded in death by her husband, Jim "Lum" Delong, and parents, Oscar & Eleanor Orner and her sisters Dorothy, Deloris and Lois.
Jeannene is survived by her brother, Buster (Joan) Orner, and her cherished niece, Mary Zamora and great nephew Joshua, who helped care for her in her final years, as well as many other loving nieces, nephews, family, and a host of friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 6, at 1:00 PM at the Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Siren, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM leading up to the service at the same location. Following the service, family invites guests to Last Call Bar, where we will share stories, laughter, and a toast or two in her honor.
