Emily Regina Williams Harbison, age 81 (39 & holding), a native of Dauphin Island and longtime resident of Coden, Alabama, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 10, 2025.
Born on July 4, 1944, Emily loved to remind everyone that the whole country celebrated her birthday every year on the Fourth of July. She lived a life full of love, laughter, and faith. She was the beloved wife of Moses Hudson Harbison for 64 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on family, faith, and devotion.
Emily is lovingly remembered by her children: Sherry Hall (Rufus), Ray Harbison (April), and, as her daughter likes to say, they "saved the best for last," Jewel Barbour (Brock). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Cindy Robinson, Misty Robinson, Kimberly Robinson, Brandi Chaudron, Jade Wilson, Shara Feltman (Josh), Lucas Barbour, and Zachary Barbour (Myrissa); great-grandchildren: Desirae Sullivan, Ryan Sullivan, Timothy Porter (Jada), Thomas Porter (Savannah), Braxton Weatherby, Brendyn Weatherby, Hunter Barbour, and Peyton Barbour; and great-great-grandchildren: Thomas Porter Jr., Hope Thrasher, Brian Lee Sullivan, and Saiah Chaudron. She is also survived by her sister Anna Harbison (Ricky), as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her deeply. Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Mathew Wilmer Williams and Edith Adele Williams, and her sisters, Florena Williams and Lana Ladnier Collier.
A devoted housewife and loving mother, Emily welcomed everyone into her home and heart-especially all of her children's friends, who knew her as a second mom. She cherished her family, her porch chats over morning coffee, and her daily time spent reading the Bible and praising Jesus. Emily's love story with Hudson was one for the ages. She married her beloved husband not once, but twice-after her father had Hudson arrested the first time for marrying her, he later came to accept their love and even brought them to Mississippi to remarry. Hudson always joked that he "got Emily from overseas," since she lived on Dauphin Island before there was even a bridge to reach it. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she was a proud member of San Souci Church.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at San Souci Church located at 9299 Cain St. in Bayou La Batre, Alabama.
