NAUGATUCK – Emily M. Stevens, 84, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024, after losing her battle with dementia. She was the wife of the late Roger M. Stevens.
Emily was born February 10, 1940, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Abel and Virginia (De Rose) Dos Santos, and was a Naugatuck resident for over 50 years. She had a long career in manufacturing, but her true joy was the 15 years she spent at Walmart, where she worked until she was 77 years old. For those who have walked through the doors at Naugatuck Walmart at one time or another, you were most likely welcomed by her warm smile and greeting.
Emily loved the NY Yankees and was an avid NY Giants Fan. Most of all, she cherished her family, always putting their needs above her own. Her home was a gathering place for many, where countless memories were made and will be cherished. She was known for her larger-than-life personality and sharp wit, and she will be missed immensely by those who were lucky enough to know her.
Emily leaves behind her son, James Stevens Sr. and his wife Kimberly of Naugatuck, and her two daughters, Cheryl Ann Wilde and her husband David of Naugatuck and Elizabeth June Untiet and her husband Bill of Prospect; one brother, Anthony Santos of Waterbury; and her beloved grandchildren; Sarah Leonard (Al), James Stevens Jr, (Theresa), Justin Stevens, Stephanie Wilde (Matt), Paige Melchiorri (Scott), Wesley Sniadecki, Monica Untiet, and Billy Untiet, Jr.; as well as Samantha Canale (James), PJ Ballolli, Jordan Ballolli, Drew Ballolli, and several great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Emily was also predeceased by her brothers, Abel Dos Santos, August, Joseph, Leo, and Alfred Santos, as well as her sister, Rose Keane.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Missy Violette and Annie Samoker for their compassion and love in caring for Emily.
