On January 23, 2023 our Emma Rae of sunshine was called home to her Lord and Savior. To describe Emma as radiant is an understatement. Emma was a smile, a warm hug and a honk as she drove by. She was a wave from the front porch and a worship song with hands held high.
Emma was born August 25 th, 2002 in Columbus, Ohio to Jason and Erika Bartlett. She and her family have lived in McKean Township in Newark since she was two. Growing up, Emma attended Jersey Baptist Church where she was able to grow in her love of the Lord and serving God, whether that was through AWANA, Puggles, vacation bible school, Kids Praise, countless worship teams, or several mission opportunities. Emma was homeschooled where she flourished academically but also cultivated her deep love for worshiping through music, sign language, and dance. Emma graduated from Cornerstone Families in 2020. After high school. Emma started Cedarville University, but soon after the Lord laid it upon her heart to follow a different path. She began working at Kids Education and Recreation where she was able to fulfill her love of working with children. Emma found true joy in caring for little ones each day.
Emma saw the best in everyone she met. She loved game night with her family and friends, sibling sleepovers, chicken nugget runs, snuggle time with her bulldog Peaches, and making her famous dips and cookies that were frequently requested. She enjoyed hiking, watching the sunset, and growing in her faith with her new church family at St. Francis De Sales. Emma fell in love with the boy down the road, Jonathan Nightingale. Jonathan was the love of her life and she always described him as being her safe place, the one that she felt at home with no matter where they were. She was the happiest she has ever been.
Emma's greatest desire in life was for others to come to know and love the Lord. "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord." Psalm150:6
Survived by her parents, Jason and Erika Bartlett; Siblings, Alexa (Josiah) Hunter and nephew Theodore, Anthony (Abby), Elijah, and Elizabeth Bartlett; Her precious dog Peaches; boyfriend, Jonathan Nightingale and his family including Kurt and DeAnn Nightingale, Jake and Savanna Norris, Joyce (Mimi) and Bill (Papa) Black. I remember going to Jersey and being in Awanas with Emma. It was a long time ago and though I don´t remember much, I always pictured her smiling. My heart goes out to her family. Sending prayers.
