Emma Jean Bridwell

Emma Jean Bridwell, beloved Mom, Granny, G.G. and friend, age 88, now rests in the
loving arms of her precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She joined Jesus early Monday
morning, November 20, 2023. She was born in Houston, Texas, on May 23, 1935, to Charles
Gates Webb and Trennie Belle Webb. She was a devoted Christian who led by example. She
taught that happiness consists primarily in putting one's life in service to others. She embodied
the spirit of giving, especially evident at Christmastime when she enjoyed shopping for special
gifts to please her family and friends. In fact, family and friends will receive a very special gift
this Christmas because she just completed her memoir, Reflections of the Evening Sky, with the
help of her son, Rick-O. In addition to her story, her book contains photos of her paintings and
several of her poems. The book also recounts most of her travels. She loved to go on vacations,
especially to see the beautiful world. She encourages us to "go and see all the beautiful things
that God has created for us."
We can only imagine the beauty she must now behold as she embraces those who have
preceded her in death: her parents, Charles Gates Webb and Trennie Belle Webb; her sister,
Jodie Williams and her husband, James Williams; her ex-husband, Benny Bridwell; her son,
Randy Bridwell; her brother-in-law Ray Williams and his wife Sandra Williams; her nephew
Jimmy Williams; her sister-in-law Patti Webb and niece Vikki Webb; and her niece-in-law Dixie
Williams and nephew-in-law Bradley Rawlinson.
Emma is survived by her brother Charles Webb and her sister, Barbara Sheffield; her
children, Rick Bridwell and Rhonda Edwards; her grandchildren, Christy Kraham and grandson-
in-law Joseph Kraham, Eric Edwards, and Cecily Edwards; her great grandchildren, Emma
Kraham, Elijah Kraham, Eleanor Kraham, Levi Edwards, Noah Edwards, Eric Edwards, and
Violet Mitchell; her daughter-in-law, April Bridwell-Seward and husband, Will Seward; her
many family members; her countless friends, particularly those with whom she worked for 53
years at Pasadena City Hall; and her children she taught in Sunday school.
We will miss her sweet smile, her warm hugs, her tender hands, her joyful laughter, and
the precious sound of her voice, especially as she sang praises to our Lord and as she prayed. She
closes her story: "I hope I did everything I could do in the time that You gave me. Lord, thank
You so much for my employment, my friends, and my family. I ask You to continue to help my
family throughout the coming years. I pray for them as they go forward in life. I love You, dear
Jesus. Thank You, again, for everything. Your trusted servant, Emma Jean. Amen."
The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, 12/9/23, at 2:00 P.M. Following the service,
Crosby Church will provide desserts.
