Emma Jean Dishinger

Emma Jean Fain was born on December 31, 1941 in Waycross, Georgia to Iduma Posey Fain and Joe Brown Fain. She grew up in Tallahassee, Florida and earned a BS in Nursing from Florida State University. She was then awarded a full scholarship to New York University where she earned a Master's Degree in Surgical Nursing.
While attending church in New York, she met Charles (Chip) William Dishinger III. They were married on July 23, 1966 at First Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida.
Emma Jean's compassion for others and her servant's heart made a joyful impact on all who knew her. She enjoyed gardening, singing, playing the banjo, hosting bridge parties, swimming, fishing, playing tennis, volunteering at church, and studying her Bible.
She is survived by her husband, Charles William Dishinger III, children Deborah Jean Shurtz and Charles William Dishinger IV, daughter-in-law Raquel Dishinger, grandchildren Elizabeth (Ellie) Jean Shurtz, Richard Charles (Chase) Shurtz III, Katelyn Amelia Dishinger, and Charles William (Will) Dishinger V; her sister Abigail Sirmans Benedict and her children Susan Sirmans Harrington and Matthew Sirmans. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Kae Lacy, her husband Frank Lacy, and their children Frank Lacy, Tammy Poulter, and Lori Parziale.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Iduma Fain.
Emma Jean will be greatly missed by her family and friends until we join her in heaven.
A Celebration Service of Emma Jean's life will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home at 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78633 at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023.
