Emma L. Hicks

Emma L. Hicks, 76, passed away on October 10, 2024. 

Born in Wadsworth, she was a resident of Akron and then Green. Emma worked as an LPN for 50 years and was a member of Akron Baptist Temple and City Church. She enjoyed southern gospel music, lighthouses, and seashells. But most of all, she loved helping others and spending time with her family and many wonderful friends

Emma was preceded in death by her husband, David Hicks; parents, Dennis and Elva Steiner; brothers, Doyle and Maylon Steiner; sister-in-law, Karen Steiner. She is survived by her children, Lisa Bishop, Laura (Doug) Richardson, Doug (Carrie) Hicks; grandchildren, Christian Richardson, Joey Hicks, Emma Nelson, Keegan Nelson, Savannah Hicks; and sister-in-law, Rose Steiner. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Christian School, 3970 Kidron Rd. PO Box 9, Kidron, OH 44636, MCC Connection Thrift, 21 S. 12th St. Akron, PA 17501, or City Church, 737 George Washington Blvd. Akron, OH 44312.

Family and friends will be received Monday, October 21st from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. at Hillside Memorial Park. Anyone not going to the graveside is welcome beginning at 2 p.m. at Maranatha Bible Church, 1424 Killian Rd. Akron, OH 44312, where a celebration of life will begin at 3 p.m.
