Emma Holste, 100, of Altamont died at 11:45 a.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 29, 2025 at St. Paul 'Blue Point' Lutheran Church, rural Altamont with Rev. David Speers officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont and for one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Paul 'Blue Point' Lutheran Church.
Emma Caroline Holste was born on Saturday, August 22, 1925 in rural Mason, IL to John and Esther (Buth) Becker. She married Arvie Edward Holste on February 13, 1945 at her parent's home in Mason. They enjoyed over 63 years of marriage prior to his death on December 19, 2008. She was a member of St. Paul 'Blue Point' Lutheran Church.
She is survived by: her sons, Randy (Joyce) Holste of Midlothian, Terry (Linda) Holste of Trenton, GA, Tim (Bonnie) Holste of Shumway and Steve (Janis) Holste of Altamont; daughter-in-law, Carla Holste of Mattoon; 26 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Emma was preceded in death by: her parents, sons, Ronald Holste and Thomas (Mary) Holste; brothers, Clarence Becker and Paul Becker and sister, Gertrude Petit.
